A Modicum of Vindication

The world moves without me at the museum, but that's a good thing. The young man who pirated my work has been told that he may never do graphic designs for the museum ever again. It appears that he has been parlaying a family connection on the board of directors into getting what he wants. This and throwing tantrums has been is M.O. so far. He produced a newsletter that was so vile that everyone is extremely embarrassed. It was a costly mistake as well, because of mishandled design and postal decisions. This doesn't mean that I'll be in, but I'm hoping for a chance.

Fussing it with Photoshop

The bottom photo was taken July 08 at Yosemite. There were fires nearby all month and the atmosphere was heavy. I took the picture out again and did a few adjustments with levels, curves and unsharp mask. Big difference, I think.

"You can't always get what you want.
You can't always get what you want.
You can't always get what you want.
But if you try sometimes, you might find
You get what you need."

-The Rolling Stones
"Shicky shicky boom wah
Tome moe wah wah
Shee ba bo wah

Tome moe wah wah"

-Zap Mama
"I thought love was,
more or less,
a given thing.
Seems the more I gave,
the less I got.
What's the use in trying?
All you get is pain.
When I needed sunshine,
I got rain."
-Neil Diamond
"Lost my heart,
but what of it?
He is cold,
I agree.
He can laugh,
but I love it.
Although the
laugh's on me"
- Lorenz Hart
"The party's over.
The game is ended.
The dreams I dreamed
went up in smoke.
They didn't pan out
as intended.
I should know how
to take a joke.
I'll go my way
by myself.
This is the end
of romance.
I'll go my way
by myself.
love is only
a dance.
I'll try to
apply myself
and teach
my heart
how to sing.
I'll go my way
by myself
Like a bird
on the wing.
I'll face
the unknown.
I'll build a world
of my own.
No one knows better
than I myself,
I'm by myself
alone."
-Schwartz & Dietz
"The night was black
Roads were icy
Snow was falling
Drifts were high.
I was weary
From my driving
When I stopped to
Rest for a while.
I sat down
At a truck stop.
I was thinking
About my past.
I've had a long
Streak of bad luck,
But I'm praying
It's gone at last"
-Paul Simon
"Winter moon
Way up above
In the sky
Are you as lonely tonight
As I?"
-Hoagy Carmichael
"Broken windows and empty hallways A pale dead moon in the sky streaked with gray Human kindness is overflowing And I think it's going to rain today

Scarecrows dressed in the latest styles With frozen smiles to chase love away Human kindness is overflowing And I think it's going to rain today

Lonely, lonely Tin can at my feet Think I'll kick it down the street That's the way to treat a friend

Bright before me the signs implore me To help the needy and show them the way Human kindness is overflowing And I think it's going to rain today"

- Randy Newman (1968)
